About the Class

These classes are perfect for beginners or for those wishing to deepen their meditation practice. Classes are self contained and are on a drop in basis, so there is no need to register in advance or attend the entire series. Each class includes a relaxing guided meditation and short talk on how to maintain a peaceful mind. Chairs are provided and their are meditation cushions for those who wish to sit on the floor

How can we live a life of great purpose and meaning without pushing or making big outer life changes? The secret lies simply in viewing ourself as being of service to others. In this series we will learn to use 6 special method to improve all our good qualities to their fullest, and increase our inner peace so that we can be of real help to others. This is how to live the life of a modern day bodhisattva, someone who wishes to be a true friend to this world. Each Class will include guided meditation, a talk and time for question and answer. Everyone Welcome. No prior meditation experience needed.

About the Teacher

SharonSharon Lovich has been practicing meditation and Kadampa Buddhism since 2003 and is the principal teacher for Kadampa Buddhism in Asheville. Before Sharon moved to Asheville in 2011, she volunteered as the Education Program Coordinator for several years at the internationally renowned world peace temple for meditation and modern Buddhism,  Kadampa Meditation Center New York.  There she received teachings and guidance directly from our General Spiritual Director, Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong, guided retreats, and taught classes.  She has engaged in numerous focused meditation retreats and is known for teaching others how to develop a peaceful mind with great skill, lightness, and humor. Today, Sharon is a part of the Special Teacher Training Program and teaches numerous meditation classes and retreats in Asheville. Sharon and her husband have one son.
