No Class October 27
Throughout history human beings have sought to improve their external situation, yet despite all our efforts we are no happier. Superficially it looked as if our world was improving but we can understand very clearly now by looking at the circumstances we find our world in that are lives are becoming much more complicated and dissatisfying.
In this fall drop-in series we will contemplate and meditate on the eight beautiful verses that comprise one of Buddhism’s best loved teachings, Eight Verses of Training the Mind as presented in the book The New Eight Steps to Happiness: The Buddhist Way of Loving Kindness by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. Each drop-in class includes guided meditation, a talk and time for discussion. You are welcome to purchase the text as an e-book or hardcopy if you would like, but it is not required for these drop-in classes. $10/per drop-in class. Free for members.
“The Eight Verses of Training the Mind, has inspired generations of Buddhist practitioners for almost a thousand years. Composed by the great Tibetan Bodhisattva, Geshe Langri Tangpa, this short poem shows how we can transform all life’s difficulties into valuable spiritual insights”
