Why Retreat?

It’s important periodically to step back from our life and allow ourself time to retreat, reflect and deeply relax. Getting away from our busy, demanding, hectic schedules, we give our mind the opportunity to journey inward and to experience for ourself a natural limitless happiness that’s already within our own spiritual heart.

Our normal tendency is to seek happiness outside ourselves, and this is why we experience much dissatisfaction, compulsive behaviors, conflicts and discontent. No matter how hard we work at it, we still feel that ‘something is missing’. Why? Because happiness is a state of mind, and so it’s main cause can only be found inside our mind.

On this retreat we journey inward to the actual source of happiness. Through a series of interrelated meditations we awaken our natural potential for authentic happiness. Then gradually through deepening this experience, we establish an essential foundation to build on for the rest of our spiritual life. This wisdom also leads us to the heartfelt wish to bring happiness to others.

Who Should Attend?

This retreat is recommended for both beginners and seasoned practitioners, as everyone will have the chance to practice at whatever level you are at. Either discovering for the first time this authentic inner experience, or stabilizing deeper realizations of a limitless potential that arises naturally from within your own mind.

What to Expect in Addition to Guided Meditations?

While away, there will be ample time to enjoy the lovely walking trails, and outdoor sitting places where you can pause for contemplation and meditation in the stillness and beauty of this pristine natural environment. Weather permitting, on Saturday afternoon Gen Mondrub will guide a walking meditation. Attend as many sessions as you wish as it’s going to be a weekend of abundant happiness and joy! Retreat sessions will be co-led by Gen Kelsang Mondrub, American Buddhist monk and Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center Georgia, and Sharon Lovich, Resident Teacher of Je Tsongkhapa Kadampa Buddhist Center in Asheville, North Carolina.
