Buddha taught that the mind has the power to create all pleasant and unpleasant objects. Even though we are experiencing everything through our mind, we are not really aware of how our mind is involved in creating our experiences. If we check, we normally feel people and things are good or bad, pleasant or unpleasant from their own side without having anything to do with our mind. This misunderstanding directly leads to so much unhappiness and so many problems in our life. Through understanding the mind correctly and putting that understanding into practice we can harness the power of our mind and gain great mental freedom.

In part two of this series we will learn how by adding in virtuous states of mind our whole mind becomes peaceful and positive. And when our mind is peaceful and positive we are creating causes for happiness for both ourselves and others.
